Friendlies
Rebecca Doughty's new work, Friendlies, is composed of facial fragments and other body parts painted on tiny squares. She then configures them in grids, presenting characters in varying states of assembly and disassembly, cobbling together friendly yet imperfect allies for an increasingly hostile world.

Tangles
new paintings at The Schoolhouse Gallery, Provincetown, MA
Rebecca Doughty's paintings have long used animal characters as the players in her comic and tragic human dramas. In these new small-scale paintings, her figures grapple with the complications of their bodily selves, and the limits of the painting edges. Their tangled bodies become the drama, enacting their inner and outer predicaments.
How I Roll
July 20 - Aug 8, 2018
opening reception: Friday, July 20, 6-9 pm
The Schoolhouse Gallery, Provincetown, MA
In the Project Space: Rebecca Doughty presents an ongoing series of playful, informal works on paper. In these loosely drawn, gently satirical portraits, characters speak their favorite commentaries, judgements and catch-phrases, which are literally written on their faces.
